The child within strives to escape
The child within can see no light
I plod through life with an aching void
I wander through life unfulfilled and without purpose
The child within cries for help
The child within reaches for a sky he cannot see
I wandered through life aching and alone until a child appeared
You came to me and looked through my eyes
Deep into my soul
Old man why do you weep ? You asked.
Old man why don’t you live? You asked.
What do you mean? I replied
Old man you cannot live until I am free
Confused I asked again what do you mean.
The child replied you must let your inner child free
I yearn to see the light of day said the child
I have tried and failed I cried
How can I succeed?
Take my hand and walk with me said the child
I grabbed his hand and walked toward the sea
As we walked, the world came alive
The birds sang, the clouds moved
Life returned as if a moving cloud had uncovered the sun
I began to live again as I became The Child Within
My cares flew away and life became fun again
As we walked toward the welcoming sea My Child and I.
