Nolan's POV
It's been almost a week since the day Tobi went off on Sterling. I still have no idea what really happened. Liam told me he knows, but he isn't saying a thing to me. He keeps saying 'it's private' and then that's the end of the conversation.
Last night was the first night I spent the entire night in my room. I was scared to be completely honest, but I did it. Liam gave me a smile and ruffled my hair when I got up this morning. Everyone was really proud of me at home.
At this moment, I was heading to my next class. It was the five-minute break between the last two classes, so I was going pretty quick. That is until I saw Tracy standing outside my next class.
I froze in the middle of the hallway, staring at him. There wasn't a shiver in my body... Just I didn't want to go near him, couldn't go near him. It frightened me just thinking about it.
I guess luck wasn't on my side today; Tracy noticed me and walked right towards me. “Hey Nolan, can we talk?” He asked as he approached me.
I couldn't do anything... I just followed him outside the 'smoking doors' of the school. They are called that cause it's where all the smokers go out. BACK TO THE POINT THOUGH, we stood outside the doors no one really saying anything.
“I have class...” I went to say.
Tracy cut me off, though. “I'm sorry for what I did Nolan.”
For some reason that hit a switch in me. I became angrier than I've ever been. “Sorry for what!? Buying me out for an afternoon! I have no idea what my brother said to you, but consider yourself lucky you're not part of the current court case going on.
“You may have been the first time I enjoyed sex, but that doesn't mean anything. You're just as bad as everyone else my brother whored me out too. You don't care; you just want to get off. Sure it cost you like $100 but who cares about that in the long run. I can get a load off in this kids tight hole.
“If you were seriously sorry about this Tracy, you would have either not done it at all or not fuck me a second time!” I was so angry that I had tears running down my face. Tracy looked at me defeated.
“You're right...”
I waited for a moment. “Is that all?’You're right'!?” I mocked him. “That's all you can say? Every time I see you I'm frightened. Not because of what you did, but what everyone did. I shake with fear, and I run away.”
“I had no idea...”
I cut him off. “I know you didn't, so think about what you're doing before you do it. I'll give you one thing; you're the first to apologize, so you get some credit.” I turned around and walked back inside. I wiped the tears from my face and entered my classroom.
I have no idea what came over me, but it feels like a weight has been lifted from me. I feel free or something. Like... everything that had happened won't affect me anymore. I'm born anew or something. I like this feeling; it's a great feeling!
Connor's POV
There I was... standing outside Tobi's front door trying to gather the courage to knock on it. I've been standing here for a few minutes but don't know if I can or should knock on the door.
Should I explain why I'm at this door? I feel like I should explain why I am at this door. Well earlier at my place I was hanging out in my living room, home alone, just watching tv. It was a normal doin' nothing kind of day.
When I have a 'doin' nothing kind of day' it's typically am feeling blue. Today it's cause of Tobi. I really like him, and I think he really likes me, but he's not being helpful in showing his feelings. Tobi has walls up that he doesn't like people seeing past.
So I was having a chill day, you know, until my brother came home randomly. “What are you doing home, James?”
“Surprising mom and dad. It's their anniversary this weekend.” That makes sense. “You seem to be blue today, what's up?”
“How do you always know how I feel?” I huffed.
James laughed. “You're my little brother; it's like my job to know these things.”
“No that's mom and dad's job to know them. You are infringing on their job; I may have to report you!” I jested with him.
He rolled his eyes. “Connor, what's going on? You can tell me.”
I sighed. “I really like someone... but I don't know for sure if they like me or not.”
“Why don't you ask?” That would be too simple wouldn't it? With that simple of a question, you’d think I would have an answer. NOPE! I couldn't think of one, to such a simple question.
I sat there staring at my brother. “I don't know...”
“Do you know where they live?” I nodded. “Then get your stuff on and lead the way!”
“We're not going to their house!” I stood up to emphasize the 'not happening'.
“I'll pick you up and carry you there if I have to.” And that's when I took him seriously and grabbed my shoes and showed him to Tobi's. I made him park up the street so that Tobi wouldn't suspect anything... hopefully.
I lightly tapped the door... barely making a noise. Maybe if I knock really lightly, James will be convinced that I did it and be good. But when I did it, it wasn't James that I wanted to prove something to, it was me.
Connor Buick, the shy kid who only months ago had no friends and sat alone at lunch every day. The kid who tried his very best to push away their entire group of friends but Nolan and Henry would have none of that. I needed to prove to myself that I can do something for myself!
So I pressed the doorbell. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, I'm shaking. My nerves are so shot that I couldn't run away if I tried. The sound of footsteps could be heard from the other side of the door. They were getting more prominent until the door opened.
There stood Tobi, in just a pair of shorts. I was too shocked to say anything. “Hey, Connor...” Tobi seemed confused about why I was there. I am showing up uninvited sooo... “How can I help you?”
“Can we... can we talk?” I asked him, too afraid to look into his eyes.
“Sure, what about?” He asked.
I kicked the ground lightly. “Us...” Tobi seemed to get the picture and gestured me into the house. I quickly made my way in. After closing the door, Tobi lead me to his bedroom.
Tobi took a seat on his bed; I stayed standing. “You wanted to talk Connor; you can start.” He said bluntly.
I nodded furiously. How do I word this? There're a million things flying around my head right now; it's so hard to focus. What if he rejects me? What if this turns into sex!? Am I ready for that!?
FOCUS CONNOR!! “I really like you!” I managed just to shout out of my mouth.
Tobi didn't even blink. “Well it's a good thing I'm home alone or else my family would have heard that. I like you too Connor.” I looked at him in the eyes for the first time.
The smile on his face was so perfect for his face. “Really?”
Tobi blushed. “Ya... You're really cute and have a great personality.”
“Then how come you did your best to make me leave the day of the project?”
“I didn't know what to do... I wasn't ready to face you.” Tobi sighed. “That morning I had just gotten home from hanging out with Sterling... Ok, if we're being honest here, having sex with Sterling. I felt dirty around you since I had just done that. It wasn't the time to do something
Tobi stood up slowly walking towards me. “But I do like you... Connor, I know I can be an ass, but I promise, Sterling won't bother you again.” His hand went down my arm. I followed his hand with my eyes before I knew it; it went up and moved my face towards Tobi.
He pressed his lips to mine, WE'RE KISSING! Like our lips aren't moving but fuck I feel like 1000 volts of electricity are running through me! When Tobi backs off, he turns away blushing. I could feel my face flush up as well.
“Does this mean that we're... boyfriends?”
“If you're asking.” Was his reply.
“I am.”
“Then yes Connor, you and I are boyfriends.” I HAVE A BOYFRIEND!!
Tobi smiled. “I saw you pull up and then the car went down the street. You should probably go now, shouldn't you?”
“Oh shit, ya my brother is probably waiting for me!” I don't wanna leave him, though. “I'll see you at school?”
“I'll text you later.” He smiled again, this time showing his teeth. He looked adorable doing it. “See ya...”
“See ya.” I waved as I made my way out.
Once I got out of the house, I booked it to the car and told James everything minus names. He was so proud of me that we went out for ice cream. Today was a great great day!
Justin's POV
"So why do you hang out with Henry anyways?” Grace asked me.
Before she asked me this, we were just hanging out together. I mean, in my living room with my parents in the next room. The TV was on, to some girly show that I didn't care for.
I raised an eyebrow. “Cause our parents were friends, so we got forced to see each other when we were little and grew into the best of friends. That's it really.” She nodded for whatever reason. “Why do you ask?”
“Cause he's gay.”
“What's that to you? How do you even know that?”
She gave me this look. The 'it's obvious' look. “Do you see the way he acts around Nolan? He's got a major crush on the kid. He'll have to get past Liam to get to him, though.” Little does she know; he's already past him.
“Ok, assuming you're correct...”
She cut me off. “I am.”
I rolled my eyes. “Anyways, why would that change anything about how I feel about Henry?”
“Cause my brother is gay, or bi or whatever, and he bullies people. What's stopping Henry from becoming the next Sterling?” Is she serious? How does this get into this girl's head?
“The simple fact that Henry is comfortable with himself. He doesn't have to attack others to make others feel worse than he does. He's not like that Grace.” There is no way Grace is going to tell me Henry will become another Sterling. He would never, it's not in him.
“Whatever Justin. The day he does, I'll be the first one to say I told you so.” She shrugged and got up from the couch. “I should go, I'll see you tomorrow.”
“Ya, see ya later.” I waved to her.
“Really?” She Huffed. “Whatever.” And like that she was walking out of my house. I like Grace; she's a nice chick, but don't talk bad about my best friend. He's more important to me than any girl could be right now.
